Police are searching for missing 7-year-old Derek Clay from the Arlington Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. The child was last seen on Tuesday, April 4, at around 4:30 p.m. in the courtyard of an apartment complex in the 1100 block of Crenshaw Boulevard, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a news release. Derek is described as a Black 7-year-old male who has short black hair, brown eyes and a medium build. He's 5 feet tall and weighs 130 pounds. An early-morning fire in Buena Park has forced 15 people out of their homes.The fire broke out at about 1 a.m. in the 7700 block of 10th Street and was knocked down in 51 minutes by more than 40 firefighters, according to the Orange County Fire Authority."Our crews here were hampered with some challenges such as wires down that were affected by the fire," said Capt. Thanh Nguyen. "And then also, multiple units involved in fire."The OCFA added on Twitter that about $2 million worth of damage was done to the structure, plus another $250,000 to the contents of the units.Though no injuries were reported, the blaze did spread to a second building, though it remains unclear if the damage to that second structure is included in the dollar amount cited by fire officials.Fifteen people, four of whom are children, were displaced. A man wanted in connection with a string of commercial-kitchen grease thefts was arrested late last month, authorities with the Beverly Hils Police Department announced Monday. The suspect, identified as Alfred Jose Padilla of Lynwood, was taken into custody after an “investigative traffic stop” just before 2 a.m. on March 24, according to a BHPD news release. While authorities did not provide the exact location of the traffic stop or say how much stolen grease he had on him, they did note that the suspect was also in possession of a loaded firearm and a controlled substance. A tourist has been reported missing in San Francisco after failing to board a cruise ship, police said.Alaina Adams (San Francisco Police Department) Alaina Marie Adams, 33, was supposed to have been on the Celebrity Solstice, which departed Pier 27 on Monday evening after an overnight stay.The woman who reported her missing around 6 p.m. Monday said she did not know where Adams was when they last had contact by phone.Adams is 5-foot-4, 140 pounds, with tattoos behind both ears and on her right foot. One person was killed in a hit-and-run collision early Wednesday morning on the busy street of El Camino Real in South San Francisco, according to authorities.Police were alerted of the incident at 1:06 a.m. The victim was attempting to walk across southbound lanes of traffic on the 1500 block of El Camino Real when they were struck by an unknown vehicle. Police say the driver left the scene.The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
